Large Auckland retirement village uses RFS internal framing

Discover how Rollforming Services’ internal framing has become the go-to option for a large retirement village developer in NZ.

When you are building hundreds of residential units, it is important to find efficiencies wherever you can. That is why our client, a large retirement village developer, switched from timber to roll formed steel for the internal framing after the first stage of their development in West Auckland.

That smart thinking paid off – the second stage of the project has progressed like clockwork and the developer has decided to continue using Rollforming Services (RFS) light gauge steel for the internal framing for the next stages.

Project details

  • Two-level retirement village with 40 residential units and 4 corridors
  • Stage 2 of 5
  • RFS products used: 92mm and 64mm internal framing

This was Rollforming Services’ first project for this developer, and quality, cost effectiveness and efficiency were priorities. Light gauge steel internal framing was installed for each apartment, and once complete, the mechanical, engineering, and plumbing (MEP) crews moved in. Then the building crew moved on to frame the next apartment, followed immediately by the MEP crews, and so on, creating a smooth operation and no wasted time.

Roll-formed steel internal framing installation took just one day for each apartment after the learning phase. The process was so efficient that the developer is now specifying RFS internal framing for other projects around NZ.
