Riverway Orchards project

Gisborne-based Riverway Orchards is a bustling enterprise that was in need of a cool store canopy. Terry from Riverway Orchards had initially planned to run with another company that had been suggested by his cool store supplier. However, his quote from Lincoln of Sheds4U for the design and build of the canopy was almost half the price. With a great reputation and a design exactly in line with requirements, Terry was more than happy.

The required canopy spans 13mx21m. It is 6m high with 7m bays, so the birdproof box purlin spans are almost 7m. RFS Bird Proof Purlins feature the strength of light steel and longer spans that can stretch to up to 11m, so were perfect for the job.

The finished product is exactly what was required. However, the Riverway Orchards owners joke there is one ‘complaint’ – they want more of the same good stuff! Their plan now is for a stage two project to incorporate more roof cover, which will get underway once the apple picking season is over. Apples are but part of the picture. This orchard, which has been delivering quality fresh fruit to leading markets since the mid-1900s, also produces kiwifruit, pears, oranges, mandarins, peaches, nectarines and apricots, requiring a shed space that is clean and free of unwanted mess.
